The Girl In The Hat

It was almost a year ago to the day that I decided to join Get Fit. I was in a very bad place in my life , and felt completely broken. I was going through a separation and living with my sister. Having to shuffle my babies between households, I never knew when I would be able to find time to get to the gym. My life was so full of chaos and turmoil , it was everything I had in me to not give up. Working out has always been therapy to me, and I felt like I was loosing everything.

My sister had joined Get Fit about 6 months prior and she had nothing but positive things to say. Learning that there was also childcare for my babies was a huge plus ! After some hesitation, I decided it was time for me to give it a try. Walking in for the first morning at 5am was daunting. I didn't know anyone, and I felt ALONE. I stood up near the front, and as I stood there the trainer recognized I was new. She introduced herself and that was the first time I met Michelle. She was so sweet and seemed to really care that I was new. It made me feel good but I was cautious, still trying to hide how nervous I was. I went back the second day, and stood in the same place. A man introduced himself to me and said his name was Mo, again being cautious I didn't say too much. But as every day passed, Mo made sure that anyone within a foot radius of me was introduced to me. I was the girl that wore the hat as he would say. So every day without fail, I
continued to meet new people and it felt good. From every trainer to any member I have come across at Get Fit, everyone has been nothing but kind and welcoming. I found myself looking forward to getting up in the morning even though my life was chaotic outside of that. Coming to get fit gave me a purpose, It breathed life back into me just when I needed it most. I needed someone to notice, to care, to make me feel like I was a part of something and Get Fit did all of that and more.

There really is something special about this place, and I am excited to be a part of it all! So, I want to say thank you to EVERYONE at Get Fit! Every single one of you had a hand in restoring my spirit, and for that I will be forever grateful!
