Sick of Sickness

If you have seen Michael Christie workout in the studio you would think he's always been in shape and healthy by the way he moves and looks. However, that hasn't always been the case. When Michael was 21 he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called ITP. His spleen became inflamed and he experienced internal bleeding throughout his body. Consequently, he had his spleen removed. For several years following his surgery Michael was in and out of the hospital frequently for various illnesses related to his autoimmune disorder.

In 2011 he was 60 pounds heavier than he currently is and decided that he needed to incorporate fitness into his life to make himself as healthy as possible. He joined a local gym, worked out with a personal trainer, and did a lot of cardio. He saw a decrease in weight but muscle-wise he was still feeling weak. His trainer suggested he needed to change things up in his fitness routine and told Michael about Get Fit.
In September 2013, Michael set foot into our studio for the very first time. Since then he has lost over 60 pounds and gained at least 15 pounds of muscle. He went down 4 pants sizes. He works out 5 days a week, sticks to the 80/20 rule of clean eating, and has 3 seasons of Rock Body Bootcamp under his much smaller belt. He loves Get Fit because he says he never feels judged--even on the days that the only class he can make it to is MOMFit when his wife was out of town for work.

Losing weight and gaining muscle are definitely great, but the biggest victory Michael has seen since joining our Get Fit Family is a drastic incline in his overall health. In the past year and a half with us he has only been to the hospital once, and that was due to an asthma attack--nothing to due with ITP. He gets his blood checked every 3 months and the doctor is amazed at Michael's lab results. Without taking any medication, his lab results have significantly improved and the doctor accredits the change to Michael eating clean, nutrient rich foods and incorporating exercise into his daily routine.
We love having Michael as a part of our Get Fit Family and are so proud of his commitment to living a healthy lifestyle for his health and his family. He is in better shape now at age 48 than he was at age 28.
You're never too old to make a change. You're never too late to reclaim your health.
