The goal of School Fit this past school year was to improve students' mental and physical health. After dozens of hours of hard work, the students achieved this goal.

At the beginning of the year, doing one push up or running 100 yards was impossible for many of the students. In the beginning, my activities were met with opposition and apathy. By challenging them to compete with others, themselves, and me they quickly changed their attitude and began to improve. Quickly they began to view exercise as something to value and look forward to. By the end of the year students could do push up competitions completing 20 or more and could run well over 100 yards without stopping. They changed not only what they could do, but what they wanted to do. On the last day they were eager to show off how strong they had become, and their plans to keep pushing themselves all summer.

I couldn't be more proud of the students for giving me a chance to be a part of their lives, and for making mental and physical health a priority. I am confident that when School Fit resumes in the fall the returning students will be mentally and physically prepared to continue their journey toward whole health.
