FOODFit Changes Lives: Denise's Story

This journey that I have been on began in October 2014 with my husband waking up at 2 a.m. having a heart attack. A few days later he underwent 8 way bypass surgery and today is doing fabulously because working out was a way of life for him!! In December of 2014 I was diagnosed with a Dural Arteriovenous Fistula with over 100 miscommunications between the arteries and veins in the Sigmoid Sinus area in my brain. I underwent brain surgery on March 5, 2015.
A really good friend of mine had completed FOODFit and had told me about all the great things that had happened to her during the process. I asked her for information and had to wait several months before the Season 4 FOODFit was announced. I was still recovering from surgery when Season 4 started on April 1, but I knew that I had to do something to get myself in the best shape I could inside and outside. Let me just say that FOODFit changed the way I look at food forever!! I have always been interested in why things work or why they don’t work so I immersed myself in the information that I was given in class. I won’t say that FOODFit was easy because it’s not. Through the process you learn very interesting things about yourself and your habits.
My transformation after 30 days of FUEL FOOD with FOODFit. Thirty days.

In the past I have been able to get either the diet part (no wonder it didn’t work!) or the exercise part down but I had never seemed to put the two together at the same time. I was stubborn and wouldn’t hear that you needed both pieces to make the whole.
God has ways of letting you know that he isn’t finished with you yet. By no coincidence ChangeUp started the day after FOODFit ended. I embraced the challenge and completed the 4 weeks with amazing results. I lost inches, gained muscle, reduced my body fat percentage and, as a bonus, lost some weight all the while continuing to eat the way I was taught in FoodFit. While continuing to work out at Get Fit RBBC was announced and I signed up to continue the momentum. I am currently 3 weeks in to bootcamp and am excited to see what the end result will be. I am still eating FoodFit style. I feel great and just completed my first half marathon in several years with a new personal record, beating the old record by 14 minutes!!

One of the things that I like the most about Get Fit is that there are no gimmicks. They give you a plan and provide ALL the support you could possibly need by way of workouts offered, times they are offered and all the trainers are more than willing to answer questions in order to help you reach your own personal goal.

I am truly blessed that my husband has followed along with our new way of eating and that he has unwavering support of the lofty goals I set for myself at 58 years young, for Heather’s sharing her story and her heart for helping others achieve the best they can be and her willingness to coach all of us through the 4 weeks of FOODFit, and for Get Fit’s providing a place to find oneself. Whether it be through positive trainers who always are willing to help during class, for offering a class that teaches you to think of food as fuel, and for the Bootcamps that provide the challenges to become the best we can be. I am looking forward to seeing what God will have me to be.
