You’ve been watching boot campers light up those TV screens for the past 7 weeks. I’m sure you are quite familiar with the sight of small boxes flashing all sorts of colors during the dreaded cardio EMOM day, heavy leg day, and you-think-your-trainer-wants-to-kill-you day.

So you’ve seen it in action and heard the buzz and now you are just plain curious. What is heart rate training and what can it do for me?

Here at Get Fit, it is our mission to help you move toward whole health and we believe that heart rate training is an essential part of your fitness journey.

What will it do for me?

It will personalize your workout. Have you ever felt lost working out in a large group of people? “They just don’t know my body. What works for most doesn’t work for me.” Well here at Get Fit, we want to give you an extra tool in your tool belt to push through that challenge. Your training zones are personalized to your age, weight, and fitness level. It doesn’t matter if you are a Level 1 or Level 3 client, heart rate training can help you train smarter for your body, not someone else’s.
It will maximize your workout. The real-time feedback on the TV screens will push you to work harder when your body has more to give, or recover when you have moved too far out of your target zones.
Dump your scale, check the email. The post-workout email gives you a new way to measure your goals. Did you spend enough time in your target zones? Do you need to add in more cardio between sets? Do you need to take longer rest periods?

How does it all work?

Heart Rate training is a top-of-the-line technology in the studio that will make any 45-minute Get Fit class all about you.

It’s Easy as 1-2-3.

1. Determine your fitness goal and find the color zone to match it.

Step 1 is as easy as answering the question, “What is my fitness goal for my body?” Do you want to lose weight/inches, get stronger, and improve your cardiovascular fitness? Or do you want to build muscle mass?
Weight Loss: Push yourself to workout in green and orange zones for 25-30 minutes of your workout.
Muscle Mass Gain: Push yourself to use heavier weights for each set and stay in blue and green zones for 25-30 minutes of your workout.
2. Watch yourself work on the screen.
Strap on your heart rate monitor before class. During your workout, our studio’s sensors will project your body’s real-time feedback up on the TV screens. Do your best to work within your training zones (refer to step 1) during your workout. These zone colors will show you when you need to push harder or recover based on your fitness goals.
3. Review your workout.
10 minutes after your workout you will receive an email with all of your results. You can review this information and assess where you can improve during your next workout.

Benefits of each training zone color:

GRAY: Recovery
Gray zone encourages blood flow, which is optimal for maintaining a healthy heart and recovering after a difficult workout. This is a recovery zone (think cool-down).

BLUE: Light
Training in Blue zone enhances endurance and the efficiency with which you use fat and carbohydrates as fuel for your workout. Training in blue conserves essential energy and protein that are needed to help build muscle after your workout.

GREEN: Moderate
Training in Green zone helps to improve your aerobic fitness and delays fatigue caused by lactic acid.

Training in orange zone kicks your body into hyperdrive, burning more fat and calories, boosting your metabolism, and improving your blood pressure in the 24 hours after your workout.

Training in red zone is not recommended for most clients, and it should only be done for short periods of time. These workouts assist clients with performance. The shorter the interval, the higher the intensity. Sufficient recovery time between intervals is important.temp-post-image
