25 Things About Jamie

1. C.O.F.F.E.E. Because it’s great. My husband and I are obsessed with everything coffee..I have a “coffee room” in my house, and I mean, we literally go on vacation just for the random small town coffee shops (and the food, duh).

2. I haven’t had gluten in almost 2 years. Honestly the only thing I miss about it is the sweets..cake, pancakes, pastries, and BEIGNETS!! I have learned to like the gluten free versions of anything I can’t live without

3. I learned how to drive on a stick-shift, and my first car was also my first love. It was a 1980 Toyota pick-up and it was BE-AU-TI-FUL! When I went away to college at Columbia College in Sonora I became obsessed with off-roading and LOVED my truck. I rolled it going around a sharp turn and cart-wheeled it about 5 times end over end into a ditch.

4. I am a mom and wife. I have two kids, Dane (my sweet one) is 9 and Hadley (my pistol) is 5, two dogs..Sassy who is a cocker spaniel/shitzu mix and Bodie who is a double-doodle (mom is a labradoodle and dad is a goldendoodle). I’ve been married to my husband Brian for 6 years, together for 10. In our first year of dating we had moved in together, had a baby and were learning to get to know each other while raising a family. We got married when our son was 3. He was THE CUTEST in our wedding.

9. I am the middle of three girls…(a.k.a.the antagonizer)I like to think about it like I’m the cream in the middle of the oreo (because that’s the best part, obvi). My sisters are amazing and we are best friends. I’ll combo 2 things in 1…my cousin (pretty much another sister) Eva, is a Runfit trainer at Get Fit. <She’s gonna LOVE me for this picture>

10. I was baptized in June of this year, the best decision I’ve ever made

11. I’ve dealt with social anxiety almost my whole life, but I love people(weird how that works!) I LOVE what I get to do at Get Fit and it has allowed me to get uncomfortable all the time and grow in ways I never imagined in this area of my life. It’s like when I’m here the anxiety disappears.

12. I grew up in Modesto and have lived here for the majority of my life. I used to think I wanted to move away, but now I am so rooted here I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

13. I’ve played soccer for 25+ years and did gymnastics for about 12 years

14. When I was 5 I had a febrile seizure. On the way home from the hospital I wouldn’t talk so my mom told me to say anything I wanted if I would just talk.(my word choice can’t be said here but it rhymes with FIT and starts with SH)

15. I LOVE everything Hip-Hop. I mean hood music is my JAM. I used to have a mad crush on Lil’ Wayne (obviously I’ve woken up since then). I’m a pretty decent rapper. In my car. Or in wedding speeches...I lip synced to Lil’ Troy’s “Wanna be a baller” in my matron of honor speech at my sister’s wedding

16. My husband makes fun of me because I sing and dance in the car ALL. THE. TIME. Whether it is worship music, hip-hop or Disney music, I’m always singing and dancing. I mean life is one big stage, right?

17. I’m really weird most of the time...I make jokes at the worst times, lame ones mostly...I make up random songs and sing them at the kids, dogs, hubby...whoever is around at the time.

18. At my heaviest I weighed 260 lbs. It was through the support of Get Fit and the amazingness that is bootcamp that I was able to change my life!

19. In high school I was very EMO. I mean, screaming music, dark eye liner, black hair, baggy jeans with a chain wallet..you get it. I finally got a little girly-er my senior year of high school.

20. My dad is a drummer and was in bands pretty much my entire childhood (He also had a killer mullet), which means I know the words to most classic rock/older country songs. White Snake and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were my favorite bands and I used to beg to listen to them in the car. <My dad will LOVE me for this one>

22. I love to travel, and one of my favorite things to do is to sit outside (preferably by the beach) and read when I’m travelling. When I’m at home I rarely have a quiet, peaceful minute to read.

23. I still hand write all my to-do lists and calendar. My list usually includes: make to-do list.

24. I’ve always had a huge fear of dying, so I try to live life full of joy and appreciation for every day.

25. When it comes to struggles and challenges I face in my life, I am thankful for each and every one and praise God through those storms. He has proven time and time again to be faithful in His promises, and I know through struggle comes beauty and through challenges comes strength, and with each of these comes a deeper relationship with Him. “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander, and my faith will be made stronger, in the presence of my Savior.” -Oceans Hillsong United
